Only 3 miles from Fort William town centre, Banavie is an excellent centre for touring the Highlands and enjoying the spectacular scenery of Lochaber which has been seen on the big screen in movies such as Rob Roy and Braveheart.

For a day trip, take a drive on the famed 'Road to the Isles' which leads from here to Arisaig and Mallaig. Stop along the way at the Glenfinnan Railway Viaduct, the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument and the Silver Sands of Morar from where you can see the Small Isles of Eigg and Rum.

Other possible excursions from 'Tornevis' include exploring the Ardnamurchan peninsula, Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, or Loch Laggan and 'Monarch of the Glen' country.

In addition to walking and climbing, there's plenty of opportunities for golf, mountain biking, fishing, watersports, etc.

You can take the gondola up into the Nevis mountain range, go on a boat trip from Fort William to see the seals, or ride on the Jacobite steam train to Mallaig. Local visitor attractions include the Ben Nevis Distillery, Neptune's Staircase on the Caledonian Canal and the Commando Memorial (pictured here) at nearby Spean Bridge.
