Location

The Schoolhouse is within easy walking distance (400 metres) of Eilean Donan Castle. See the interactive live webcam.

This relaxed and peaceful setting overlooking Loch Duich is a great base for exploring Skye and the West Highlands.

Those travelling by public transport can use the bus stop at the castle which is on the main CityLink bus route (Isle of Skye / Fort William / Inverness). The railway station 8 miles away at Kyle of Lochalsh has a regular train service to Inverness (the West Highland Line is rated as one of the top scenic trips in the country).

The Area

The scenery of Loch Cluanie, Glen Shiel and the Five Sisters of Kintail is spectacular at any time of year and is a great favourite of hillwalkers. Click here for details of walks in Kintail and Lochalsh.

The Isle of Skye is easily accessible via the bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. Alternatively, drive from Shiel Bridge along the scenic mountain route to Glenelg (where there is a small ferry to Skye).
